Beautiful clock. It has a loud but pleasant ring with a somewhat deeper, lower sound due to the thicker metal.
I’m an extremely heavy sleeper. I probably would have slept through World War II. I haven’t had difficulty waking up to my new Westclox. That’s probably because it’s loud. It isn’t a wind up ringer. And it rings continuously until it’s turned off. I located it on the opposite side of the room from my bed so I have to get up to turn it off.
Not sure if the hands are supposed to be glow-in-the dark. They look like the old-time radioactive hands, but don’t seem to be glowing.
It’s heavier and better quality than the cheaper one I bought on Amazon a year ago. The ring was high-pitched and annoying. Every day it would rattle off my dresser faster than I could get out of bed to turn it off.
My new Westclock travels only slightly when ringing. So, to keep it from falling off the dresser, I arranged a couple of little hand weights behind it and in front of it so it stays in one place.
I would’ve paid more than twice the amount for it to be heavier so it wouldn’t travel. But as it is, it’s a great price and is much better quality than the cheapo from Amazon.
