Big Ben Classic Moonbeam Retro Alarm Clock, Light & Bell Alarm, USB Charging, Yellow

This is the 2nd Big Ben clock I've bought. I really like the retro style, keeps time perfectly, very easy to set the alarm and clock hands, but my favorite thing is that the dial glows at night time! It doesn't glow too brightly or too dimly - it's just right. My only beef is that there used to be a variety of clock colors available, but today, the only color offered is yellow. Luckily, yellow works in the bedroom it's in but would've preferred blue. Oh well. Overall it's a great little clock.

Really Like This Clock.  I was looking for an analog clock with nice features.  Lighted dial, not too bright at night, the light can be turned off.  Battery backup, so it keeps time during power failures.  USB port to charge devices.  AC power, so no battery failures to worry about.  Wake up alarm has high and low setting and gets progressively louder until turned off.  Snooze feature.  Also has flashing light that begins 5 minutes prior to alarm for gentle wakeup.  Alarm setting can be alarm only or flashing light and alarm.

I am SO happy with my Westclox 43000X Moonbeam Clock. I love that it begins with a light and then moves on to a sound alarm. I love that it has the gentlest buzz alarm out there that can still be effective. And I love that it has a very softly and warmly lighted dial for telling time in the middle of the night. It is the sweetest clock! I was worried about buying it after reading a number of reviews about the lights and alarm not working right out of the box. And being worried, I did what a lot of people must do - I popped in some batteries and gave it a whirl. Well, first of all, the light features don't work unless you are plugged in. Batteries are meant to conserve energy, and so only the sound alarm works until full power can be restored. This is discussed in the user information. Once I realized this, my initial disappointment with the lights not working instantly changed to great relief and satisfaction. Also, you have to set the alarm for well after the current time. The instructions say 15 minutes, but I found that it has to be more, like 20-25 minutes after the current time. This really hasn't been an issue AT ALL.The clock is RETRO. So if you can't get past having to turn the alarm off, because otherwise that alarm will go off both am and pm, then get a modern digital clock.

What a wonderful clock. I could not find a clock that would not keep me from sleeping. I am very sensitive to light! I can't have the standard red digital clock as the red light keeps me awake unless I turn the clock towards the wall. However with the clock towards the wall I can't see what time it is during the night which is very annoying. I bought this clock because it did not have the red numbers and because it had the light alarm. I figured that a light going off would be a very effective way to wake up. I was right! I tend to wake up on my own and I get really crabby with the "dee-dee-dee-dee-dee" of a standard alarm clock. My ears feel like they are bleeding! So this clock has the alarm only option or light and alarm. I wish it had the light only option but it does not. At anyrate the light goes off first for 5 minutes and it you are not awake by then the sound alarm goes off. The light blinks on and off and gets brighter and brighter if you don't wake up. This light wakes me up and I tend to wait until the sound goes off and then I get up but I'm already awake and I'm not all irritated by the alarm sound.A very nice bonus feature is the clock face can be lighted or the light can be turned off. I like to see the time if I happen to wake up in the night but again I am very sensitive to light so I was a little concerned about using the light feature. However it is such a low yellow light that I can have it sitting on my night stand pointing straight at me and it doesn't bother me at all! The face is large and I can see the time but again, the light itself on the face is a very low, warm color and does not keep me awake. That was an added bonus that I was not expecting.The clock is also larger than most clocks. Its a nice size. When I opened the box all my kids (who are grown and happened to be home) were like, "I want one!!" We all liked the size and the look. It does come in other colors but Amazon had the best price but with only one color. Bummer! But I don't care, the yellow looks great in my bedroom. Great buy.

I bought the Moonbeam alarm clock for two reasons--first because I love the retro look! It's so unique and really goes well with my decor, and second because I wanted an alarm clock that is super easy, user friendly and fast to use.When I plugged in my clock and turned off the lights, the glow on the face is absolutley charming. I really does look like a harvest moon coming over the horizon. It has a beautiful soft glow, not obnoxious and glaring light that digital clocks have. Using it as an alarm is even better. It has the option to set it with either just the light, just the bell alarm or both. I set it to use both not knowing how it would wake me. When the alarm first went off, the first couple of cycles used only the flashing light and it gently woke me up before the ringing alarm even had to go off. Its such a gentle and non stressful way to wake up. If the lights dont do the trick and the bell alarm does have to go off, it is not the kind of horrible, jarring alarm that will ruin your day right off the bat. Its a gentle but effective ringing alarm. Its a wonderful way to start the day. I LOVE THIS CLOCK!
